Wellen Shen
Founder & CEO
Wellen Sham is an entrepreneur with 30 years of experience in high technology operation and management, private equity and venture capital investment, and fund management. After a long and fruitful career and having held top leadership positions at various listed companies in Asia, he invested in TJ Innova Engineering &Technology – the biggest car design company in China – in 2005 and became the deputy CEO. Now with over 10 years of management and investment experience in the automotive industry, he leads the team at Thunder Power to realise his vision in creating a ground-breaking product in the electric vehicle market.
Dr Xu Dong Tang
Executive Vice President and Assistant CEO
Dr Tang founded TongGao Advanced Manufacturing Technology in 2014 and joined forces with Thunder Power in 2017, bringing in his expertise and patents in high-tech manufacturing, including high-power laser welding, cutting, composite welding, riveting and piping. He has over 16 years of related experience, previously taking up technology leadership positions in the China offices of Fortune 500 multinational conglomerates including Durr and Conmau.
Albert Chen
Director of Sales and Marketing and AVP
Albert’s background in engineering enables him to combine technical knowledge with accurate sales and marketing data to develop and implement short-term and long-term sales and product strategies. A graduate of Stanford University, he has over 10 years of sales experience across the technology and software sectors in USA, Europe and Greater China.
Dr Luo Yin-Jao
Senior AVP, Motor
Dr Luo’s cutting-edge research in industrial motor design is well respected in the electric vehicle industry. Prior to joining Thunder Power, he held senior positions across leading companies in the industrial sector, including Atech Totalsolution which specialises in motor designs for electric bus and passenger cars. With over 25 years of industry experience, he holds 35 patents in the US and Taiwan concerning motor configuration design.
Mihai Panaitescu
Lead Designer
Having previously held lead designer positions at Lotus Cars, Toyota and Ares Performance, Mihai is currently the chief designer at Thunder Power where he leads the overall vehicle design direction.
Patrick Chu
Senior AVP, Production
Patrick is a veteran in industrial operation management in the Greater China region. He has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing leadership where he leads new production implementation, oversees daily manufacturing operation, maintains quality excellence while optimising production costs and efficiency to meet corporate objectives.
Steve Ooi
Senior AVP, Homologation and Regulation
Steve is an automotive industry veteran with extensive experience in programme management and test and validation at Visteon and IDIADA Automotive Technology. He is now in charge of vehicle validation and homologation at Thunder Power.
Jeffrey Xu
Homologation and Regulation Specialist
Jeffrey has been in the field of car homologation for over 10 years, having previously worked for SAIC Motor and QUROS Automotive. He is highly experienced in all types of audits and is familiar with automotive regulations in China. At Thunder Power he is mainly responsible for obtaining the NEV licence and liaison with the Chinese government on regulatory issues.
